serves as a canopy for the myriad of electronic music and technology in the arts projects and appearances Douglas Babb administers. Babb founded SOUNDBYTES-Resources in Electronic Music Technology, which comprises a public access electronic music studio, reference library, museum and classroom in 1988,
SOUNDBYTES moved to the beaches
of Long Island Sound in 1994. The shoreline setting of the new
studio is surrounded by water and adjacent to an Audubon Society
bird sanctuary. Douglas Babb, founder and director, finds it the
perfect site to harbor SOUNDBYTES operations.
SOUNDBYTES is ideally placed for Babb to continue his exploration of the balance and relationships between music, technology and nature. Babb often works with "found sounds" and site and event specific themes and commissions. He frequently incorporates sounds recorded during his extensive travels and creates live performances which make use of unusual and/or natural spaces.
